WHO WE ARE
WHAT WE DO
Sensory Sanctuary provides stylish, calming clothing to children and adults who experience sensory overload.
Our goal is to produce clothing that helps dampen the overstimulation and associated behaviors that can come from being neurodivergent without drawing attention to the clothing itself. Helping neurodivergent people deal with stimulus without drawing attention to the tools being used will help their personalities, instead of their behaviors, stand out!
HOW WE DO IT
The Calming Hoodie
A stylish and customizable hoodie – the “uniform” of teens and pre-teens everywhere – with built-in coping mechanisms. While looking every bit the “normal” hoodie, it’s designed to reduce the amount of sensory input a wearer experiences, thereby reducing or eliminating the number of sensory overload episodes experienced. Sensory Sanctuary understands and celebrates the uniqueness of each person, and therefore we offer levels of customization of the Calming Hoodie, in addition to various color choices.

THE SCIENCE
Some people who are neurodivergent react differently to stimuli. Too much stimulus can cause such people’s brains to take in too much information at once, causing a feeling of being overwhelmed. The sense of being overwhelmed can cause one’s brain to enter a “fight, flight, or freeze” mode that can send an individual into a panic. Neurodivergent people that suffer from this amplification of external stimulus can be negatively impacted in their school or work life, and also receive negative attention socially.
HOW TO GET OUR PRODUCTS
Sensory Sanctuary is in the start-up phase, and therefore you can be part of helping guide the development of our products! In this initial stage, you will work closely with us to customize the Calming Hoodie, and we will want to receive your feedback. We are looking for partners to help us continue to enhance and improve our product offerings so that we can help as many people as possible. Thanks for joining us in our mission.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Sienna Proctor
People close to Sienna have had sensory issues that caused large, attention-drawing reactions to external stimuli because they didn’t have the tools to cope with the stimulus. Sienna observed how peers treated people because of this, and knew it disrupted both their ability to learn and their ability to make and maintain social connections. This is why she created clothing that appears “normal” on the outside, but has built-in tools to help people cope with stressful situations in a calmer and more effective manner. Even people without stress reactions to external stimuli can benefit from the fidgets built into the clothing if they have ADHD or otherwise need distractive stimulus.
